While Metro Vancouver’s economy is experiencing unprecedented growth, rates of working poverty and homelessness remain among Canada’s highest. Homelessness is a region-wide problem, impacting all communities from downtown Vancouver to suburban and rural areas within Metro Vancouver. Cascadia worked with the Metro Vancouver Homelessness Task Force to co-author a report on the contributing factors and action plan to address homelessness within the region.
As part of this mandate, Cascadia worked with the Metro Vancouver Homelessness Task Force to develop a conceptual framework, outline roles and responsibilities for providers, perform leading practice research in comparable cities, assist with concept visualization and develop a proposed action plan to address homelessness in the region.
The final deliverable of this mandate was the report, which has been discussed and cited in local, regional and national news. Cascadia donated all proceeds from this engagement to a local division of the United Way.
